Labour Court recommends Limerick base and €2,500 for Chubb Ireland worker

The Labour Court recommended that Chubb Ireland base a worker in Limerick, pay travel allowances accordingly and offer first refusal on the next suitable vacancy in Cork. It also recommended €2,500 compensation. The recommendation was signed on 14 November 2013. The Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union said travel time was part of the worker’s employment terms, that he was the only engineer not paid it and that he had suffered financial loss. The company said he was based in Limerick following a voluntary move, received travel time as appropriate and was treated like other engineers.
