The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union’s claim against Aer Lingus over a cabin crew member’s sick pay and loss of earnings. The recommendation was signed on 11 October 2013. The union said the worker’s injury happened at work and reclassifying his leave reduced his sick pay entitlements. Aer Lingus said he had exhausted the scheme’s entitlements and was paid his basic cabin crew rate while assigned to ground duties. The Court found the company followed its standard sick pay arrangements, arranged suitable alternative work as soon as reasonably practical, and paid him according to standard practice while on ground duties.
