The Labour Court recommended that HSE West restore one day of annual leave to each of two Westdoc Ltd drivers who attended SIPTU’s inaugural biennial conference of its Health Division. The recommendation was signed on 3 October 2013. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said an agreement provided paid release for staff attending union conferences. HSE West said budget constraints meant the drivers used annual leave to attend. The Court said the agreement was clear and the drivers were entitled to payment for the days in question. It recommended that HSE West implement the agreement and that the union's claim to restore a day's leave to each driver be conceded.
