The Labour Court recommended that Collins' Coaches Limited pay bus driver Joseph Furlong €500 in full and final settlement of his appeal of a disciplinary dismissal. The recommendation was signed on 6 September 2013. The company did not attend the hearing, and the Court heard Mr Furlong’s uncontested evidence. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that the disciplinary process fell outside the company’s procedures and did not take Mr Furlong’s medical condition into account.
