In a recommendation signed on 23 August 2013, the Labour Court said The University of Dublin (Trinity College) should pay €1,587.07 in employee contribution arrears for a worker who had not been entered into a pension scheme. The worker sought retrospective entry to the Master Pension Scheme from 5 July 2004, saying the Model scheme offered reduced benefits. The University said he was not eligible for the Master scheme while temporary and that it had closed, so he could not be transferred into it. The Court recommended that the University explain the differences between the schemes in benefits and member costs, and pay the arrears on the worker’s behalf.
