The Labour Court recommended that Special Olympics Ireland pay a worker €9,750 compensation after finding she was unfairly treated in the review of her suitability for employment and the way her employment ended. The recommendation was signed on 23 August 2013. The worker alleged bullying, unrealistic objectives, inadequate resources and insufficient training. Special Olympics Ireland disputed her claims, saying there was no supporting evidence, that she received comprehensive training and that performance shortcomings persisted during probation reviews. The Court recommended no investigation into the bullying allegations because no written complaint had been made during her employment. It also recommended that the parties reflect on their working relationship, address any issues arising and seek to agree a reference.
