The Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail) acknowledge relocation payments were due to 97 New Works Programme staff and defer payment until completion of the Cost Containment (2) Agreement in 2017. The recommendation was signed on 12 August 2013. Services Industrial Professional & Technical Union and National Bus & Railworkers Union said a 2006 collective agreement provided for the payments. Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail) said the claim could cost €150,000 to €200,000 and it could not pay immediately. The Court said the agreement should be honoured while it remained in force.
