The Labour Court recommended that National Rusks Limited increase redundancy terms for former workers to four weeks’ pay per year of service, in addition to statutory entitlement. The recommendation, dated 31 July 2013, followed a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The union said the company had first indicated six weeks’ pay per year including statutory redundancy, then offered four weeks plus statutory redundancy with an adjustment. The company said its terms were generous and that its company-funded element was uncapped.
