The Labour Court recommended that Dublin City University and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union negotiate common rules for staff acting in upgraded posts. A worker had sought a Grade 3 appointment and compensation after being returned to Grade 2 pay with an allowance for Grade 3 duties. The Court said the worker’s position could not be considered in isolation because other permanent employees were in similar roles. It recommended that she remain under her current arrangements while negotiations addressed appointments and how long employees could act before their posts were regularised. The recommendation was signed on 8 July 2013.
