Labour Court says Dublin Airport Authority should have advertised temporary vacancy

By Aoife Loughran

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court recommended that Dublin Airport Authority should have advertised a temporary Airport Identification Centre vacancy under its procedure, giving the redeployed employee extra weighting. It signed the recommendation on 10 June 2013. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said Airport Police Fire Service staff had always done the work and that management ignored its vacancy procedure. The authority said it used the role temporarily to find suitable work for extra resources and that no vacancy existed at the time. The Court found the procedure required an abbreviated notice and extra weighting for staff on the DAA redeployment panel.
