The Labour Court recommended compensation for security staff in Munster after the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union claimed their hours had been cut from 48 to 40 a week. The recommendation was signed on 21 May 2013. The union said the cuts came without advance notice; G4S Security Solutions (Ireland) Ltd. said staff continued to receive their contracted 40 hours and that additional hours had been reduced. The Court recommended compensation based on twice the annual loss of earnings, calculated by comparing hours worked in 2011 with 2010 and paid in two equal instalments.
