The Labour Court recommended pay increases for staff at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Manufacturing Limited (DX) Swords after Unite the Union members rejected the company’s 2012–2014 offer by ballot. The recommendation was signed on 19 March 2013. The Swords site employed 320 workers. Unite sought a pay structure that would give employees equal-value increases while protecting the company’s competitiveness. The company said its scheme was realistic and would help maintain the Swords site as sustainable. For 2012, the Court recommended a lump sum equal to 2% of annual pay for staff at or above the upper-quartile range, and a 2% rate adjustment backdated to January for staff below it. It recommended a 2% increase for all staff from 1 January 2013. For 2014, it recommended negotiations on a pay adjustment, with referral back to the Court if the parties could not agree.
