Labour Court recommends €2,500 for worker dismissed by Xcel Xecutive Cleaners

The Labour Court recommended €2,500 compensation for a worker after finding her dismissal by Xcel Xecutive Cleaners unfair. The recommendation was signed on 19 March 2013. The worker said she was dismissed after complaining to the employer’s client and that the alternative hours offered were substantially below her contractual 17-hour week and unsuitable. The company said she refused offers of alternative work after it needed to move her from the client’s location. The Court said the company could have placed her on lay-off while waiting for other work to become available.
