The Labour Court recommended that Liam Rice Ltd restore a worker to full-time hours as business improved and, when its trading position allowed, bring his pay into line with comparable workers’ rates. The recommendation was signed on 12 March 2013. Unite said the worker’s pay should have risen by about 21.5% since 2005 under successive National Wage Agreements. The Court found merit in the union’s case and said the worker was entitled to have those agreements applied to his pay. It recommended discussions on a compensatory lump sum, while noting the company faced difficult trading conditions.
