The Labour Court recommended reinstating a location allowance for nurses who remained at St John's Hospital after its Intensive Care and High Dependency units closed. The allowance would be retained on a personal-to-holder basis while the Clinical Observation Unit was in transition, pending implementation of the HSE Acute Medicine Programme. The recommendation was signed on 8 March 2013. INMO sought the allowance for nurses assigned to the Clinical Observation Unit, arguing that the unit continued to provide a high dependency service. Management said the level of care there did not warrant the allowance.
