The Labour Court recommended that Carlow College and a worker jointly investigate his claim that he was placed on the wrong salary scale and await the outcome of an investigation into his bullying complaints. The recommendation was signed on 18 January 2013. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said the College had delayed its investigation and placed him on the wrong salary point from 2007. The College said it followed its internal procedures and that the delay was beyond its control. The Court recommended that the parties await the Senior Counsel’s report, due by 30 April 2013. If it was not completed by then, a new investigation should be conducted, with an appeal process available. It also recommended a joint investigation of the salary-scale complaint by 31 March 2013, with the College to implement any resulting pay recommendation.
