The Labour Court recommended that South Dublin County Council and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union use the Local Authority Implementation Committee procedures to try to resolve a dispute over an allowance for about 30 general operatives in the Council’s Cleansing Department. The recommendation was signed on 29 November 2012. The Council had proposed ending the working-in-the-rain allowance and offered a buy-out. The union rejected the offer. The Court noted a committee commitment that no action would be taken on eliminating allowances pending further discussion. Both sides agreed to use the committee process without referral to a third party.
