The Labour Court recommended that An Post pay employees in its IT department all outstanding incentive payments due under their agreement after finding merit in claims by the Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants and Public Service Executive Union. The recommendation was signed on 29 November 2012. An Post said it was loss-making and could not afford the payments. The Court said the agreement linked performance payments to annual targets set with each staff member. After employees’ 2011 performance was measured in early 2012, they were entitled to expect their pay to be adjusted in line with their results. The Court also recommended that the parties urgently complete discussions on restructuring the agreement.
