The Labour Court did not find in favour of a worker’s claim to return to Chief Technical Officer grade and receive travel expenses after transferring from Carna to the university campus in Galway. The recommendation was signed on 7 November 2012. The worker said difficult working relations led him to seek the transfer and that he moved under duress. NUIG said he knew the new role was less senior and that travel expenses would not be paid. The Court found the move followed his transfer application and that the terms, including the absence of travel expenses, were set out in a letter. It recommended that, if a suitable Chief Technical Officer vacancy arose, neither party’s reputation or opportunities should suffer because of the complaint process.
