The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union seek final clarification from the Department of Finance on a worker’s previous service with Cork City Council and her lack of age-related points. The recommendation was signed on 31 October 2012. The union said Circular 21/2004 entitled the worker to retrospective incremental credit from October 2002 and that she had not benefited from age-related points. Teagasc said she did not meet the three-year previous-service requirement and that the Department had confirmed she was ineligible. The Court recommended that the parties ask the Department to clarify how the worker’s previous service should be treated, including the effect of the age-related points, and conclude the matter based on its response.
