The Labour Court recommended that South Tipperary Development Company increase its compensation offer to an anonymous worker to €5,000 in full and final settlement of the dispute. The recommendation was signed on 16 October 2012, with payment in two instalments of €2,500 in December 2012 and December 2013. The worker said the company’s board had failed to address continuing bad behaviour, showed bias in handling her complaint and did not understand the issue. The company said it had investigated, offered a written apology and compensation, and proposed a further investigation by an independent grievance panel, which the worker declined. The Court noted that the company had acknowledged shortcomings in its handling of the matter. The worker had rejected its earlier offer and brought the dispute to the Court.
