Labour Court recommends union accept Office of Public Works settlement on upgrade claim

The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept settlement terms offered by the Office of Public Works in a dispute over retrospective upgrading of a worker’s post. The recommendation was signed on 15 October 2012. The union said four of five upgrade claims it submitted in January 2007 succeeded, while the worker’s claim was ignored. The Office of Public Works cited pressure on public finances and payroll resources as reasons against retrospective payment.
