The Labour Court recommended that University College Cork reconsider filling a vacant Stores Supplies Officer post at Cork Dental Hospital, within the public service recruitment moratorium. The recommendation was signed on 9 October 2012. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the College had committed to filling the full-time post after a competition and argued that employing an outside contractor cost €35,000. The College said the Employment Control Framework and funding conditions prevented it from filling administrative vacancies, although it remained committed to filling the post.
