The Labour Court recommended that Windmill Lane Ltd pay Fionnuala Wright €4,000 after her redundancy, and give serious consideration to assigning her freelance work if it became available. The recommendation was signed on 1 October 2012. Wright said she had 11 years’ service, more experience and service than a colleague also at risk, and offered to return to a five-day week. Windmill Lane Ltd said falling market share and lost contracts led it to make nine staff redundant, using a selection matrix that included length of service. The Court accepted the company’s account of its financial circumstances and recommended the payment in recognition of Wright’s significant service.
