The Labour Court recommended that Windmill Lane Pictures Ltd pay Alan Sullivan €8,000 after his redundancy, and give serious consideration to assigning him freelance work if it became available. The recommendation was signed on 1 October 2012. Sullivan, a Senior On-Line Editor, said he had worked for the company for 20 years. He said he and a colleague were told that one of them would be made redundant, and he was made redundant on 27 January 2012. The company said falling market share and lost contracts led it to make nine staff redundant, using a selection matrix that included length of service. The Court accepted the company’s account of its financial circumstances and recommended the payment in recognition of Sullivan’s significant service.
