The Labour Court recommended that Bolinden (Tara Mines) and Unite Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union agree an independent facilitator to conclude an agreement with craft workers on terms for 2012–2014. The process was to be completed by 27 July 2012. The recommendation was signed on 4 July 2012. The dispute arose from the company’s proposed procedures under the New Bolinden Way, intended to improve production and extend the mine’s planned life. The union said the company had broken a commitment to collective negotiations by negotiating pay and other matters with one group and concluding an agreement. The company said it had consulted workers and that its proposals would help secure the mine’s future.
