The Labour Court recommended that Complete Highway Care and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union return to conciliation to negotiate a comprehensive agreement on employment terms. The recommendation was signed on 25 June 2012. The union sought higher rates of pay, restoration of a shift bonus, a regularised 39-hour week and overtime premiums beyond those hours. Complete Highway Care said it could not meet the cost of the claims, citing financial pressure and increased competition. The Court recommended that negotiations cover job categories, transparent pay rates, standard hours and shifts, overtime rates and any bonus criteria. Talks were to begin as soon as practicable and last no more than three months, after which unresolved matters could return to the Court.
