Labour Court recommends €5,000 for worker unfairly dismissed by Square Inn

The Labour Court found that Gormally Investments Ltd T/A The Square Inn unfairly dismissed a worker and awarded her €5,000. The recommendation was signed on 21 May 2012. The worker said she was dismissed without fair procedures or representation at a disciplinary meeting. The employer said her performance was unacceptable and that it believed formal procedures were unnecessary because she had less than a year’s service. The Court found the dismissal procedures flawed and the dismissal unfair on procedural and substantive grounds.
