The Labour Court recommended that Microsemi Ireland allow a worker to have trade union representation while processing his bullying grievance. The recommendation was signed on 23 April 2012. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, complained of bullying by his supervisor in December 2010. Microsemi Ireland offered to let him bring a staff member to a meeting but did not respond to the union’s request to represent him. It later closed the matter, citing his failure to attend a meeting. The Court said workers may choose trade union representation when dealing with a grievance under the Code of Practice. Microsemi Ireland did not attend the hearing and had told the Court it would not take part.
