Labour Court recommends North Tipperary VEC concede worker’s incremental-credit claim

The Labour Court recommended that North Tipperary VEC concede a worker’s claim for incremental credit, finding that her nine years as a telephonist with the former Department of Posts and Telegraphs met the relevant criterion. The recommendation was signed on 23 April 2012. The worker, represented by the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union, had worked as a clerical officer at the VEC from 2004 to 2006 before moving to the HSE. The union sought credit for her earlier experience, while the VEC argued that the telephonist and clerical officer roles were not analogous. The Court said the former department had treated them as analogous. The worker agreed to be bound by the recommendation.
