Labour Court recommends Errigal Seafoods recognise union

The Labour Court recommended that Errigal Seafoods recognise the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for collective bargaining and industrial relations. The recommendation was signed on 23 February 2012. The union said the company’s consultative committee was not a negotiating forum and sought talks on members’ terms and conditions. Errigal Seafoods said it already had long-standing internal procedures and rejected the need to recognise or negotiate with the union. The Court recommended negotiations toward a procedural agreement for orderly industrial relations.
