The Labour Court recommended acceptance of Musgrave Retail Partners’ final document on outstanding issues affecting 135 Salary Distribution Team Members at its Cork Chill Depot. The recommendation was signed on 17 February 2012. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought a larger voluntary redundancy package, options for night workers to move to day vacancies and a €3,000 lead-in payment with additional shares. The company opposed those claims, saying it needed to reduce day staff by up to 30 and that backfilling vacancies would undermine that aim. The Court said it saw no basis for concessions beyond the company’s final document dated 24 January 2012, and urged further talks on night workers’ aspiration to work days one week in four.
