The Labour Court recommended that Neville's Bakery and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union engage to resolve disputes over sick pay, working hours, overtime rates, union recognition and third-party appeals. The recommendation was signed on 17 February 2012. The union said its efforts to resolve workers' concerns with the company had been unsuccessful. Neville's Bakery said it was unaware of a trade dispute and did not attend the hearing. The Court found a trade dispute existed and noted that about 80% of the company's employees wanted union representation. It recommended that the company and union enter a process of engagement to seek agreement on the union's claims.
