The Labour Court recommended that SMC Pneumatics (Ireland) Limited and Mandate meet to resolve a dispute over allowances for sales engineers. The recommendation was signed on 29 November 2011. Mandate sought restoration of subsistence allowances and a higher home telephone allowance to cover broadband costs for company business. The Court found the daily subsistence payments and monthly telephone allowances appeared out of line with industry norms, and recommended that both sides seek a mutually acceptable way forward. SMC Pneumatics did not attend the hearing, but its written submission was considered.
