The Labour Court recommended that Woodfab Timber Ltd increase its enhanced redundancy offer to a worker to three weeks’ pay per year of service, inclusive of statutory entitlement, in full and final settlement of the dispute. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had agreed to be bound by the recommendation, signed on 14 October 2011. The union had sought six weeks’ pay per year of service. The company said the log-processing operation was loss-making and trading difficulties had led it to offer redundancies at statutory rates.
