The Labour Court recommended that Bord Na Mona and Unite enter meaningful negotiations over proposed changes to the contracts of nine workers whose company cars were withdrawn. The Court said the cars formed part of the workers’ remuneration and should not have been withdrawn without negotiations and agreement. Unite said the cars were removed without consultation or objective selection criteria. Bord Na Mona said the workers’ roles no longer justified the cars and cited fairness, notice and cost savings. The recommendation was signed on 6 October 2011.
