The Labour Court recommended no payment of the bonuses or pay increases sought by the Irish Bank Officials’ Association for Irish Nationwide staff. The recommendation was signed on 29 July 2011. The union sought two weeks’ pay as December bonuses for 2009 and 2010 and a 3.5% pay award for 2010 and 2011. Irish Nationwide cited exceptional financial losses and conditions attached to Government support. The Court found no justification for the claims and recommended that the parties continue developing negotiating procedures.
