The Labour Court recommended a phased 5% pay rise for salaried distribution team members at Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland’s Clondalkin distribution centre. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 2011. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought pay increases and changes to working conditions. It argued the company could afford retrospective increases, while Musgrave cited the downturn, reduced sales and the risk of further claims. The Court recommended 2% from 1 July 2011, followed by two 1.5% increases in successive 12-month periods. It also recommended new work systems, quarterly roster reviews, changes to sick pay arrangements and an increase in the minimum number of Sundays worked from 13 to 19 a year. The Court recommended that staff accept the company’s proposal for quarterly roster reviews.
