The Labour Court recommended that Greenstar Limited apply its 2009 redundancy terms to workers made redundant at its Bray site. The recommendation was signed on 19 May 2011. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought four weeks’ pay per year of service plus statutory redundancy, without a cap, for future compulsory redundancies at Greenstar’s Waterford plant and for up to 19 union members facing redundancy in Bray. Greenstar said the Bray workers would be offered redeployment and, if they declined, would receive the 2009 terms. The Court recommended that the 2009 package, which provided four weeks’ pay per year of service including statutory redundancy and was capped at 65 weeks’ pay, apply to the Bray redundancies. It recommended that the company and the union discuss appropriate terms if further redundancies arise.
