The Labour Court recommended that HSE and four unions apply agreed annual leave changes from 14 April 2010 and revise sick leave arrangements for fixed-term employees. The recommendation was dated 18 May 2011. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, INMO, PNA and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union sought changes to HSE’s rule book on leave and sick pay. The Court recommended that fixed-term employees accrue 10 weeks’ full pay and 10 weeks’ half pay per year of service, proportionately less for an incomplete year, up to 26 weeks at each rate in a four-year period. Existing arrangements for public holidays during continuous sick leave should continue.
