The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and MANDATE’s claim for a pay increase at Tesco Ireland. Its recommendation was dated 11 May 2011. The unions sought increases under the T2016 Transitional Agreement, while Tesco Ireland argued a rise would harm competitiveness and investment. The Court noted that the company had not pleaded inability to pay and recommended that the parties meet again early in 2012 to revisit the issue.
