The Labour Court recommended that Dublin Inner City Partnership concede the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for redundancy payments of 5.35 weeks per year of service, inclusive of statutory entitlements. The recommendation was signed on 12 April 2011. The dispute concerned four care workers made redundant when the partnership ceased operating in June 2010. The union said a local agreement provided for the enhanced payment; management said it lacked the funds, and POBAL said public programme funds could not be used for it. The Court found the formula was in the local agreement and was consistent with settlements in comparable employments. It also recommended that the parties jointly approach the funding agency for support.
