The Labour Court rejected the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union’s claim for HSE West to implement a 2006 regrading agreement at Letterkenny General Hospital. The agreement proposed upgrading four Medical Records Department posts from Grade III to Grade IV and one from Grade IV to Grade V. HSE West said public-sector promotion restrictions and the cost-increasing nature of the claim prevented it from carrying out the promotions. The Court noted HSE West did not dispute the claim’s merits but said it could not recommend conceding it under the Public Service Agreement 2010–2014. The recommendation was signed on 14 March 2011.
