Labour Court recommends compensation for Pfizer craft workers

The Labour Court recommended that Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals compensate 16 craft workers moved from Inchera to Little Island with two years of actual lost shift premiums, paid in two instalments, and twice their annual lost overtime in a lump sum. It recommended ending the split-week premium from 1 March 2011 and putting the full package to a ballot as a full and final settlement. The Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union sought to retain the split-week rota and compensation for lost premiums and overtime. Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals said Little Island did not operate that rota and redeployment should not add costs. The Court found no basis to retain the premium for workers no longer working that shift, but said the January 2010 letters were unclear about when it would cease, with possible pension implications. The recommendation was signed on 24 February 2010.
