The Labour Court did not recommend conceding an unnamed train driver’s claim for loss of earnings against Iarnrod Eireann. The recommendation was signed on 27 January 2011. The driver, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said he received sick pay while absent after an incident on a passenger train but was not paid his contracted hours. Iarnrod Eireann said the claim fell outside the criteria applied and that it had processed it under company policy and the Chief Medical Officer’s advice.
