The Labour Court recommended no change to Tesco Ireland’s established voluntary redundancy package in a recommendation signed on 26 January 2011. It found that the formula had not been validly terminated. Mandate and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the terms were five weeks’ pay per year of service, without a cap and inclusive of statutory entitlements. Tesco Ireland argued that chargehand grades could be redeployed under new grading structures and that redundancies would not be required. The Court recommended that the established package continue.
