The Labour Court recommended that Dunbia (Slane) recognise Unite for collective bargaining and industrial relations purposes for its members at the Slane site. The recommendation was signed on 20 January 2011. Unite sought immediate recognition at Slane. Dunbia (Slane) said recognition discussions with SIPTU were ongoing and that it intended to extend its relationship with SIPTU after a planned merger. The employer’s representative did not attend the hearing but submitted the company’s position in writing. The Court recommended that the parties meet to agree procedures for implementing its recommendation.
