The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation identify which of three proposed rosters had the widest staff support at the National Rehabilitation Hospital and notify management. The recommendation was signed on 31 December 2010. The dispute concerned rosters for a 37.5-hour week and adequate rest breaks. The union objected to management’s proposal to change the practice of banking missed breaks. The Court said the hospital’s night-shift break pattern needed to change to comply with the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997, and considered the three rosters a reasonable effort to meet the legal and working-week requirements.
