The Labour Court recommended that University College Dublin offer a worker the choice of keeping a €13,500 Head of School allowance until his contract ended or surrendering it for a pay increase under Report No 42. It also recommended paying him the final-phase Towards 2016 increase from 1 September 2008. The dispute was brought by the Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT), which said UCD had withdrawn the allowance unilaterally and had not applied pay increases from their due dates. UCD said the allowance was unauthorised and it lacked authority to restore it. The recommendation was signed on 16 August 2010.
