The Labour Court recommended that the Public Service Executive Union, the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union, and the Communication Workers’ Union accept Eircom’s offer of a 5% allowance increase from 1 July 2008. It also recommended that workers who lost an on-call allowance receive compensation of 1.5 times their annual loss, capped at €12,700 per person. The unions sought changes to on-call, extra-attendance and call-out allowances for about 30 IT workers, as well as compensation for removed or reduced payments. Eircom cited financial and competitive pressures. The Court also recommended that the parties follow the review arrangements in their agreements. The recommendation was signed on 9 August 2010.
